If Norman Reedus has his way, he and Daryl Dixon will never leave The Walking Dead.

"I love being on the show," Reedus told EW. "I could do this until it ended. There's part of me that really wants to bookend the show. I started the show and I want to end the show."

Reedus is one of five cast members who appeared in The Walking Dead's first season to remain on the show. With him in said company are Andrew Lincoln, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, and Chandler Riggs. James, however, will be leaving the show for Fear the Walking Dead after Season Eight wraps up and Riggs is set to make his exit as soon as it returns.

"It's not like a movie where it wraps up in an hour and a half," Reedus said of The Walking Dead. "People have seen me and Andy and Melissa grow over what will be a nine-year period when the show picks back up. You've seen my hair on my chin turning gray! I've never done a job like this where the fans are watching this character grow in real time. You very rarely get an opportunity to do that. It's a real blessing to be able to be part of something that big and has that sort of longevity. I'm still loving it."

Rick actor Andrew Lincoln, one of three (and soon to be only) cast members on board since The Walking Dead's first episode, opened up to ComicBook.com about cast members leaving the show. "There's only me left in the top 10," Lincoln said. "Norman and Melissa and Danai and LC, they're all in the twenties...This job is, as I said before, glorious and unique. I wouldn't trade it for the world. The stinger is the fact that I seem to be the guy left on the pier waving people away. That's powerful."

The Walking Dead returns for the second half of its eighth season on February 25, 2018. For complete coverage and insider info all year long, follow @BrandonDavisBD on Twitter.
