Ahead of Friday's series debut on Netflix, Marvel's The Defenders star Mike Colter is talking about what fans can expect regarding Luke Cage's complicated relationship situation -- specifically with all his exes suddenly meeting up.

Colter's bulletproof ex-con doesn't have a direct tie to The Defender's villainous organization the Hand at series start, but he does have a tie to the ladies, specifically Jessica Jones, Claire Temple and Misty Knight. Colter tells Moviefone that bringing all Luke's romantic interests together gives audiences another layer of character interaction.

"Needless to say, the history is there, but I think for the audience, it adds a different color to it, adds a new level to the interaction between everyone," Colter said. "Every time they see Misty talking to Claire, they're thinking about that. There's that added thing. Every time they see Misty come into contact with Jessica Jones for the first time, it's like, 'Oh, what's going to happen here?' Or Jessica coming into contact with Claire."

However, if fans are hoping to see a catfight over Luke in The Defenders they might just find themselves disappointed. According to Colter, the dynamic is more about being interesting than being dramatic.

"All this underneath it all, the audience is sort of intrigued to see and to wonder, 'is there something there? Is there something that's going to come up?' Just makes it more interesting," Colter added. "But I don't think we're going to stoop to like, girls have to fight about Luke openly, because ultimately, they're all adults. They make decisions and things happen. That's just kind of how it is."

You can find out for yourself how Luke and his exes work things out when The Defenders premieres on Netflix August 18th.
