'Sherlock' Star Louise Brealey Really Wants To Appear On 'Doctor Who'

Sherlock and Doctor Who might be two of the biggest television shows hailing from across the pond. And if it were up to one Sherlock actress, she'd cross over into a TARDIS in a heartbeat.
Louise Brealey, who is best known for playing Molly Hooper in the hit BBC miniseries, was recently asked if she would be willing to cameo on Doctor Who. And as she revealed, she's made plenty of attempts to land a Doctor Who role.
"I've asked them a million times!" Brealey told RadioTimes. "Absolutely."
There is, of course, an added irony to Brealey's efforts, as outgoing Who showrunner Steven Moffat also created Sherlock. But Brealey went on to joke that Moffat has refused to let her appear on the series - even in a less-than-glamorous role.
"I've said 'Look, I'll be a Dalek.'" Brealey joked. "Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Furious. Not asking any more."
With Moffat on his way out of Who - culminating in the upcoming Christmas special - Brealey jokingly mentioned that she'd be willing to pivot her efforts to incoming showrunner Chris Chibnall.
"I know, [Moffat's] gone!" Brealey added. "[I've] blown it. Who's the next one? I'm gonna start currying favour with them."
If Brealey were to make her way onto Who, she would be the latest in a long line of Sherlock alums to do so. Sherlock co-creator Mark Gattiss has written plenty of Who episodes, while Sherlock actors such as Rupert Graves, Gemma Chan, Russell Tovey, and Lindsay Duncan have all made Who appearances.
But at the end of the day, it sounds like a potential Who cameo would just be the icing on the cake for Brealey.
"I asked to be [in it], just because, you know – it's Doctor Who." Brealey explained. "But it's OK. I'm not losing sleep over it."
