Wedding plans may be underway for the third season of The CW's Supergirl.
Part of the conclusion to the second season of Supergirl was Alex Danvers proposing to girlfriend Maggie Sawyer. Fans were not shown Maggie's answer beyond a startled "excuse me," but her face suggested a "yes" was on the way.
Fans of "Sanvers" then found cause for concern when they learned that Floriana Lima, the actress who plays Maggie, will not be a series regular for season three.
It seems that those wedding bells may still ring, as TV Line reports Supergirl is casting for a reverend in the eighth episode of the new season.
There was no confirmation as to what purpose the reverend would be put towards, or what individual or couple is seeking the reverend's services, but it certainly suggests that a Sanvers wedding could be on the way.
There have been other signs of hope for Sanvers shippers as well. Executive Producer Andrew Kreisberg has promised that there are no plans to kill Maggie Sawyer in Supergirl's third season. In fact, Lima is expected to appear as Sawyer in at least a handful of episodes, even if she isn't a series regular anymore. Kevin Smith provided a behind-the-scenes look at the couple together in a season three episode he is directing.
In addition, Supergirl has also cast 24 alum Carlos Bernard as Maggie's father, suggesting fans will be learning a bit more about Maggie's personal life and history. Perhaps her father is even making a trip to National City for his daughter's wedding.
While Alex and Maggie may be preparing for a wedding, Supergirl herself will have her hands full in season three dealing with the new villain in town, Reign.
Supergirl returns to The CW at 8 p.m. ET on October 9, 2017.
