Freeza Schemes
Funny realization about Frieza last episode from dbz
As you can see, Reddit threads are on fire with speculation with what Freeza was up to by helping Goku!
One interesting observation is how Freeza giving energy to Goku and mentioning that is now free of any debts to his Saiyan rival is a nice little call back to the ending of Dragon Ball Z's Freeza Saga, in which Goku donates some of his own energy to Freeza, in order to help the villain get off of Namek before it exploded. Freeza doesn't want his infamous reputation marred, so he repays his debt to Goku in private.
While that's a great observation, and certainly seems accurate, it still doesn't exclude that Freeza probably had ulterior motives for doing what he did...
As stated, this second half of the Tournament of Power will see the various fighters from across the different universes going all-out in their final bids for victory. There have already been teases of Jiren revealing his final form, a powerful new fighter (possibly a fusion) entering the ring, and Goku finally mastering his Ultra Instinct power. However, in the midst of all that, we've also gotten teases of Freeza stepping in to systematically eliminate competition!

So what could Freeza be after?
Well, we all know that for Freeza the tournament isn't a battle against death and destruction - for Freeza, it's a actually a battle for life, as he can be permanently resurrected by the Super Dragon Balls, made immortal, or even usurp the power of Beerus and other Gods of Destruction for himself! However, the key to making that power-play is getting Universe 7 through the tournament, and onto the victory podium.
The villain has been quite observant about the new levels of power and technique that have been revealed during the tournament. It's a safe bet that he's been calculating Universe 7's path to victory this whole time, and knows that relying on his Saiyan rivals is the best way to get there.
With Goku now tapping into Ultra Instinct, Freeza had both the perfect weapon to aim at the rest of the fighters in the tournament, and a potential road map to a new power. Fans shouldn't be at all surprised if (when) the dust of the tournament settles (including the Saiyan battle royale we're hoping for!), Freeza finally makes his shady scheme known.
