Kuasa Makes Her Live-Action Debut in 'Legends of Tomorrow'

Tonight, on Legends of Tomorrow, fans of The CW superhero show got a brief look at one of the team's newest foes in season three -- Vixen's sister, Kuasa, in her live-action debut.
Spoilers for tonight's Legends of Tomorrow episode, 'Freakshow', below.
As the episode draws to a close, Amaya (Maisie Richardson-Sellers) explains to the rest of the team that she's been experiencing issues controlling her powers. Instead of protecting, her powers are actually harming people and she can't go home until she figures it out. Sarah mentions that they could use Amaya's help as they prepare to face what the Time Bureau considers to be a "greater evil," but when the team all bursts out laughing it's pretty clear they don't take this threat that seriously.
But maybe they should. In the final moments of the episode, a hooded figure is seen chanting near what appears to be a lake. The water rises up and forms into a humanoid figure before emerging entirely to reveal a woman.
"Welcome back, Kuasa," the hooded figure says before explaining that she is a "follower of Mallus" and that they have work to do.
Arrowverse fans may recognize the name Kuasa. While tonight's brief appearance marks the first time the character has appeared in the live-action corner of the universe, Kuasa (Tracy Ifeachor) was the primary antagonist for her sister, Vixen/Mari McCabe (Megalyn Echikunwoke), during the sophomore season of the Vixen animated series. And while Kuasa ultimately joined forces with the heroes -- including Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh) -- in their fight against Eshu, it doesn't look like Kuasa's returning in the best of circumstances.
Ray's history with Kuasa, as well as the character's possible ties to the "greater evil" the Time Bureau is worried about, will make for an interesting story this season on Legends. The show's co-creator Marc Guggenheim told Entertainment Weekly this summer that the character's animated history plays a part in how she is received by her grandmother, Amaya.
"I think that's what makes it interesting as far as Amaya is concerned," Guggenheim elaborated, "is that Ray, at the appropriate moment, will accurately tell her that there were moments where Kuasa was capable of selfless good. So, I think that gives Amaya a little bit of hope."
However, there will be a lot of ground to cover before Kuasa possibly sees the light again. There's the issue of who the hooded figure and her master, Mallus, is, not to mention the return of Damien Darhk and Gorilla Grodd. Add these bad guys to all the anachronisms the team faces and it's going to be a wild ride this season for the Legends.
