Clearly, Whittaker and the Doctor Who showrunners are embracing change! The Doctor has never looked quite this free-spirited, with the yellow suspenders, turquoise pants, and rainbow-striped gray shirt adding a colorful vitality to the character. The multiple earrings are just icing on the cake.
If Matt Smith created an androgynous alien hipster vibe with his Doctor, Whittaker looks to be creating a more ethereal spirit type - and as you can see below, a lot of fans are instantly embracing the new era!

Whittaker will take over as the series lead in season 11, which will also be the debut of new series showrunner Chris Chibnall, one of the main writers on the Doctor Who spinoff Torchwood.
The Doctor Who Christmas Special "Twice Upon a Time" airs December 25, 2017, on BBC America. Theatrical tickets for the Christmas Special are also now on sale.
