Finn Wolfhard may be best known for his roles as Mike Wheeler in the Netflix hit Stranger Things and as Richie Tozier in the movie It, but he may also soon be known for his music.

Uproxx reports that Wolfhard's Vancouver-based band, Calpurnia, just signed to Canadian record label Royal Mountain Records and are set to record their debut EP with Twin Peaks guitarist Caiden Lake James for a 2018 release. In a statement, Wolfhard said that he's very excited to be working with one of his favorite bands as his own band gets off the ground.

"It is so sweet that we have such a good team at Royal Mountain Records," Wolfhard said. "I love everyone on it. I'm extremely excited to record our EP with Cadien Lake James. Not only is he in one of my favorite bands of all time, and recorded some of my favorite songs, but he is only the sweetest guy ever. Thanks everyone so much who helped us out along the way, it means the world."

News of his band's record deal isn't the first time Wolfhard's musical side has gotten noticed. The young star has appeared in videos for the band Pup and videos of his own performances -- including a cover of Nirvana's "Lithium" last year -- have gone viral. The actor also appeared as Charlie Bucket at a live-to-film staging of Gene Wilder's Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory at the Hollywood Bowl earlier this month, singing music from the film alongside John Stamos's Willy Wonka and "Weird Al" Yankovic's Oompa Loompas.

But fans of Wolfhard's work on Stranger Things don't need to worry that he's going all rock and roll just yet. Series creators Matt and Ross Duffer have confirmed that Stranger Things will return for a third season, with a time jump to account for the aging of the series' young stars.

The second season of Stranger Things is currently available on Netflix.
