With the year approaching at end, the team at ComicBook.com came together to nominate our favorite creators and creations in the worlds of comics, television, movies, and anime, recognizing the best of the best in each category. After condensing them to the five best nominees, we all voted on what we thought should be recognized in the top spot.

Considering the staggering amount of quality in superhero shows this year, it was hard to even select the Best TV Actor nominees. So imagine how difficult it was to whittle those down and find a winner.

Between new series like Marvel's Runaways and Legion, as well as returning favorites like The Walking Dead and Gotham, there was no shortage of amazing talent on the small screen. Each of our nominees portrayed drastically different characters as well. They all offered something remarkable in their respective shows, making this one of the hardest awards to dole out.

And the winner of Best TV Actor is…

Dan Stevens as David Haller in Legion!

As soon as Legion premiered on FX, we could immediately tell it was something special. From Fargo executive producer Noah Hawley, this interpretation of a misfit mutant from Marvel's X-Men lore was the perfect vessel to explore issues of mental health, self control, and abuse.

And for all of the engrossing storylines, fans were easily engaged thanks to Stevens' acting talents. Playing the maybe-not-so schizophrenic mutant David Haller, Stevens can deftly portray fear, paranoia, rage, and manic joy, shifting between them with ease and nuance. We even caught glimpses of a sinister personality, though with Stevens' charms it was easy to forgive and forget.

Of course other actors gave noteworthy portrayals as well, such as Jon Bernthal's run as Frank Castle in The Punisher and Lennie James impact on The Walking Dead as Morgan Jones. Newcomer Rhenzy Feliz came out of left field with his role as Alex Wilder in Marvel's Runaways. And the bombastic Michael Cerveris debuted as Professor Pyg in the latest season of Gotham, becoming an instant favorite.

We'll be announcing more winners throughout the week, so be sure to check back on ComicBook.com to see if your favorites won. And don't forget to tell us who and what your favorites were on Facebook and @ComicBookNOW on Twitter.
