'Wynonna Earp' Showrunner Takes Fans on a Behind-the-Scenes Virtual Tour

This week, the cast and crew of Syfy's Wynonna Earp gathered in Calgary to begin production on the show's third season, which will air later this year.

Today, showrunner Emily Andras teased fans on Twitter, "Do you guys want a behind-the-scenes photo of the first Wynonna Earp read-through later today or are you over it?"

Of course, after fans enthusiastically cheered on the idea of new Wynonna Earp content, schedules changed a bit. Andras followed up, in all caps, "Guys, the read-through has been postponed to Friday, probably due to my hubris, so I will now run around the office taking much less cool behind-the-scenes photos for you!"

Less cool than a cast read-through? Sure -- but the ten shots she took from around the production office of the cult hit were still a ton of fun, and represent the return to set that Earpers have been waiting months for.

Wynonna Earp, which adapts Beau Smith's creator-owned comic books, has developed an intensely personal relationship with its audience, in part due to how accessible Andras is on social media and how earnestly she believes in the show she is making.

"It is such a privilege I cannot even begin to tell you," Andras told ComicBook.com last summer. "I don't want to oversell Wynonna Earp because I feel like there is so much incredible work being delivered right now with strong female protagonists, from Stranger Things' Eleven to Wonder Woman. It really does seem to be hitting a place in the culture zeitgeist: we are talking about it and how important it is. At the same time, part of my heartbreak is that we are still talking about it and it's still kind of an anomaly. I don't mind being part of that discussion. What a privilege to be able to write a show which is essentially a supernatural Western where all the traditional male characters are female. At the same time, I feel like the male characters on this show are incredibly progressive and open minded and three-dimensional and kind of respect and admire the women on the show."
