It's been a couple of years since fans got their final look at Smallville, and while star Tom Welling has mostly been working behind the camera (excepting a brief turn in this fall's JFK assassination drama Parkland), most of his co-starts have remained in television. Michael Rosenbaum, who played Lex Luthor on the series and whose most recent TV work was the cancelled FOX drama Breaking In, is headed to NBC to star opposite Breaking Bad's Krysten Ritter in the high-concept comedy pilot Mission Control, a workplace ensemble set in 1962 that examines what happens when a strong woman butts heads with a macho astronaut in the race to land on the moon. Deadline reports that Rosenbaum will play Bus, a handsome, jockish, stubborn and loudly likeable NASA astronaut. Rosenbaum was most recently seen in the feature film Back In The Day, which he wrote, produced, starred in and directed.

Justin Hartley, best known for his turn as Oliver Queen on Smallville but currently appearing as a recurring guest on ABC's Revenge, is set as a lead in Lauren Iungerich's ABC comedy pilot Damaged Goods. It revolves around two damaged men (Hartley, Steve Talley) and two damaged women who explore the minutiae of love and relationships. Again, it's Deadline who get this one, and they say Hartley's smart and egoistic Tim is hit hard when his girlfriend and law firm colleague gets the promotion he expected to get. Childish and unable to applaud her accomplishments or be with a woman who outranks him, the relationship seems all but over — unless she resigns. Interestingly, Hartley's first TV project post-Smallville was on Emily Owens, M.D., in which he starred opposite Jada Pinkett Smith, who will appear next fall as the central antagonist in the first season of FOX's Gotham.
