Goldberg's year-long tenure with the WWE is considered by many to be extremely lackluster compared to his red-hot WCW career. With the former wrestling star now being featured in WWE 2K17 as a pre-order character, it's been heavily rumored that a WWE return is in order.

Talking to TMZ, Goldberg says that the ball isn't in his court for a return, but remains hopeful.

"I've been asked that question a million times, and I'd love to be able to answer people, but the reality is I'm not the employer."

That statement is a far cry from his previous anti-WWE comments in recent years, even claiming that he will never allow his son to wrestling for the company. Though apparently his attitude has changed in the past year or so. "Never say never."

TMZ also reports that sources close to Goldberg have said that WWE has been in touch with the former world champion and a deal is very much in the works and the "wheels are in motion" for him to return. It's possible that he has signed something similar to a Legends contract which allows him to get revenue from the company for continued use of his likeness. This could be for toys, video games, DVD releases. The works.

At this time, Goldberg is twelve years removed from the wrestling world and didn't exactly leave on the greatest of terms, or matches. Could a Brock Lesnar rematch be around the corner? That's something wrestling fans could get behind if done right this time around.
