WWE: Vince McMahon Scrapping Undertaker's Wrestlemania Plans

This is awful news. John Cena vs. The Undertaker is apparently no longer in the works for WrestleMania 33, according to a new report by The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. According to the report, Vince McMahon has changed his mind on what would have been a dream match for both participants.

There's been speculation on The Undertaker challenging for a major championship at WrestleMania but as of this week, he is not scheduled to challenge for the WWE Title or the Universal Title, which of course would take him out of the running for winning the Royal Rumble. After last Monday's staredown between Braun Strowman and the monitor during Taker's return, there has also been speculation on Taker vs. Braun Strowman but that match is also not in the works, at least as of this week.

I completely understand the WWE's logic of not wanting to use a 51 year old Undertaker in a championship match at this stage of his career. Championship matches are generally saved for current, full-time performers. However, WWE will be missing a huge opportunity by not putting two of the all-time greats in a match together on the Wrestlemania stage. Some have assumed the WWE may believe Taker has one more year left and could be saving the match with Cena for a retirment bout at Wrestlemania 34.

While that may make sense from a booking standpoint, the WWE could miss out on another once in a lifetime dream match, just as they did with Taker and Sting.

The WrestleMania 33 card is not finalized but the key locked-in matches remain - Big Show vs. Shaquille O'Neal, Triple H vs. Seth Rollins and Brock Lesnar vs. Bill Goldberg, which The Observer speculates will be the main event.

If Undertaker doesn't face John Cena, Roman Reigns, Goldberg, or Braun Strowman at Wrestlemania, who is left for the Deadman to face?
