Colony, a vaguely-described USA Network drama that sounds a bit like it might be an alien-invasion series, has recruited Lost standout Josh Holloway for its lead.

The series, produced by Lost's Carlton Cuse, is described over at Deadline as "a family drama/thriller about life in Los Angeles after a mysterious "foreign" occupation. Holloway will play the main character, Will Bowman, a former FBI agent who — to protect his family — is forced to collaborate with the occupational government to bring down the growing resistance movement inside the Los Angeles colony."

Other sources have explicitly referred to the series as a sci-fi pilot. After Lost, Holloway has had just one pilot prior to Colony -- CBS's short-lived Intelligence. He's been sought-after by a number of showrunners, though, and Deadline speculates that Cuse gave Colony the inside track on landing Holloway.

USA recently retooled much of their primetime lineup, with long-time staples Burn Notice and Psych ending their runs recently and White Collar going into its final season.

Since the end of Lost, Holloway has worked with Star Wars Episode VII director J.J. Abrams on Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and with Captain America: The Winter Soldier director Joe Russo on an episode of Community.
