Jay Basu, writer of Monsters: The Dark Continent, has been tapped by Universal to help bring the studio's planned shared monster universe to fruition, according to Deadline.

The shared universe will feature updated versions of classic Universal film monsters, including Dracula from Dracula Untold, as well as The Wolf Man, The Mummy, Frankenstein's monster, and the Creature from the Black Lagoon. Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan are heading up the project.

The next film in the shared universe, and the first planned as such, will be The Mummy, directed by Kurtzman, which will be released in theaters in June 2016.
