The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the nominations for the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, and several genre fiction works were among them.

Birdman, the black comedy about an ex-superhero movie star, received the most nominations of any single work, with seven total. These includes nominations for Best Comedy or Musical, Best Actor in a Comedy or Musical for Michael Keaton, Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy or Musical for Emma Stone, Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy or Musical for Edward Norton, Best Director for Alejandro González Iñárritu, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score.

Into the Woods is among Birdman's competition in the Best Comedy or Musical category, and Emily Blunt received a nomination for Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for her role as The Baker's Wife.

Interstellar's sole nomination is for Hans Zimmer's score. Lorde's "Yellow Flicker Beat" from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and "Opportunity" from Annie are both nominated for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture.

Disney Animation's first film based on a Marvel Comics property, Big Hero 6, is among the nominees for Best Animated Feature Film, alongside Guillermo del Toro's The Book of Life, The Boxtrolls, How to Train Your Dragon 2, and The LEGO Movie.

In television, Game of Thrones received a nomination for best television drama, while American Horror Story: Freak Show's Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates received nominations for Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress in a Television Mini-Series or Movie, respectively.

The winners will be announced during the 72nd Annual Golden Globe Awards ceremony, hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, airing Sunday, January 11, 2015, live on NBC at 8 p.m. ET.
