According to Wonder Woman director Michelle MacLaren, the follow-up to Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hasn't yet been officially greenlit by Warner Bros.

The comment was about the only thing she would say about the planned feature film in an interview with Vulture, in which she took the old "Marvel Snipers"joke to the next level.

"I really, really, really can't talk about [Wonder Woman]," she said in the interview. "I just picture a drone coming in over the hills and crashing through the glass and flying over here and putting duct tape over my mouth, you know?"

Of course, the film has already appeared on the DC Entertainment slate and was warmly received by investors. There's little doubt it will be made, unless the bottom falls out of the superhero movie market between now and 2017. Rather, the issue is likely that the film cannot be officially pushed into production without an approved script. As reported yesterday, there are apparently multiple screenwriters still working on drafts for Warner Bros. at present.

Still, with Suicide Squad -- the movie between Dawn of Justice and Wonder Woman -- heading into principal photography soon, one has to assume the heat will be on to get a script in place, get a greenlight and a budget...quick.
