Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum still could very well be the galaxy's defenders, according to 21 Jump Street's co-directors.

Following last month's leaked Sony emails that revealed a possible crossover film between the 21 Jump Street and Men In Black franchises, Jump Street's co-director Phil Lord told MTV News that the project is still alive and in development.

"Nothing's changed," Lord said. "It's still a crazy idea, and we only do things that seem like they're going to be terrible."

"We're really focusing on what's a great story for Schmidt and Jenko and how to tell the next chapter in their lives," he said. "And perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time."

On the possibility of actors Will Smith and Tomy Lee Jones reprising their roles from the Men In Black films, Lord said that it's still being discussed. Right now, he said, he wants to focus on the story.

Jump Street's other co-director, Chris Miller, added that multiple wheels are in motion on the project, but nothing is absolute yet.

"We're developing a lot of things, you know," Miller said. "And they may or may not all happen, but that's how the business works."

Even if a Jump Street and Men In Black crossover doesn't pan out, viewers can at least look forward to seeing Smith and Tatum team-up in Suicide Squad
