Warner Bros. is reportedly considering the movie rights to Orphan X, an upcoming novel by accomplished comics writer Gregg Hurwitz. If purchased, the film adaptation would come with Bradley Cooper in the starring role.

Hurwitz's thriller novel will follow the story of Evan Smoak (whom Cooper would play), a man who comes to others' aide by any--and often violent--means. Smoak would find himself in over his head, however, when a particular job brings him into a human trafficking ring operated by the Los Angeles Police Department.

If Warner Bros. does purchase the rights with Cooper attached, the actor would also produce the film, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Hurwtiz, an established writer within the comics industry, has penned numerous high-profile characters including Batman, Wolverine, and The Punisher. His Orphan X novel is scheduled for a February 2016 release by MacMillan Books.
