Today is actor Kyle MacLachlan's birthday.

A popular actor whose body of work exists mostly in television, MacLachlan is best known for his career-defining role in Twin Peaks as Special Agent Dale Cooper. He has also held longer arcs in popular television shows like The Good Wife, Desperate Housewives, How I Met Your Mother, and Sex & The City.

MacLachlan finally made it into the world of comic book adaptations last year for Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. As Calvin Zabo/The Doctor, MacLachlan appeared in a number of episodes during Season Two's first half, and is set to return later this year. However, it's likely that fans are much more excited for the actor's return to Twin Peaks, when the series returns to Showtime later this year.
