12 Monkeys Renewed For A Second Season

12 Monkeys

The SyFy Network has announced that 12 Monkeys will return for a second season.

The second season will bring a slight shakeup in the show’s creative department, with former co-executive producers and writers Terry Matalas and Travis Fickett graduating to co-executive producers and show runners. The brains behind Suicide Squad and Batman Vs. Superman: Dawn Justice’s Atlas Entertainment will continue executive producing, with Atlas’ Jake Kurily on board. Charles Roven, the producer of the original 12 Monkeys film, will produce as well.

The second season will continue Cole's story as he travels through time to stop a plague destined to destroy humanity in 2043. The series is set in the same universe as the 1995 12 Monkeys film, which starred Bruce Willis as Cole.

With the first season of 12 Monkeys currently still airing, SyFy said that the second season will likely air in 2016.

12 Monkeys airs on Fridays at 9:00 p.m. on SyFy.
