Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Poe Dameron Might Be From Yavin

Poe Dameron of Star Wars: The Force Awakens was born on Yavin…maybe.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Oscar Isaac, the Guatemalan actor who plays Poe in the film, said that he thinks that's where the character comes from, but he couldn't confirm for sure.

"What's actually very interesting is that Yavin ... at the end of the very first 'Star Wars' ... that last scene was shot in Guatemala and you know, I think that Poe Dameron is from that planet ... and that's a beautiful coincidence," he said.

Yavin is a notable planet from the original trilogy, since the Battle of Yavin, during which Luke Skywalker and the Rebel Alliance destroyed the first Death Star, was fought in that system.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens December 18.
