There's been a lot of buzz about the growing new and returning cast of Independence Day 2, but little is known about the film's actual plot. Luckily, Vivica A. Fox finally gave us a morsel of concrete story information.

"The aliens are back, and it's about 15 years later," Fox tells mLive.

Okay, so that's not exactly shocking. In what way would an Independence Day movie be and Independence Day movie if it didn't involve an alien invasion? But now we know for sure.

Fox joins fellow returning cast members Jeff Goldblum, Bill Pullman, and Brent Spiner, along with newcomers Liam Hemsworth and Sela Ward.

Independence Day 2 opens June 24, 2016.
