Prior to Ant-Man's release, ComicBook.com had the chance to speak with Michael Peña, the film's screen-stealing star who plays Scott Lang's buddy, Luis.

Peña had no idea that towards the end of Ant-Man, he was the first person in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to reference a fan-favorite certain character. Be warned, spoilers follow for an epic Marvel Cinematic Universe moment for those who have not seen Ant-Man!

Seriously!

Okay, since you're still with us - let's continue. In the closing scene of Ant-Man, Peña's character began another monologue turned montage describing a series of events regarding Anthony Mackie's the Falcon searching for Ant-Man. As Peña recited character conversations, he claimed that a woman told the Falcon, "We've got one that jumps, we've got one that swings, we've got one that crawls up the walls." Clearly, a reference to Marvel's Spider-Man who is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe following a February deal between Sony and Marvel Studios.

Peña, however, had no idea that this was the first mention of Spidey when we asked him about the scene. In fact, he was so surprised that we told him and his initial response was, "Really?" Once we informed the actor of Fury, Shooter, and End of Watch fame he whipped his hand into a Spider-Man web slinging gesture and opened up about his love for the character.

"Here's the thing, man. It was really interesting. Tobey Maguire did a kick-a-- job as Spider-Man. He had that innocence and that kind of awkwardness that he channeled to make it work. I didn't see the Andrew Garfield ones but I really liked the Tobey Maguire ones. They got this new kid now," Peña explained, referencing the recent casting of Tom Holland as Peter Parker.

Speaking of previous Spider-Man films, Peña says, "It almost felt like even the CGI was so much different. When you saw Spider-Man jump, it was comic book-ey, but it was more cartoonish. I still really loved him but now that he's in the Marvel Universe, they're gonna change some stuff up. Hopefully they get to put him in the ring with like, Captain America and Ant-man." Peña is clearly up to date on his super heroes and their movie news, telling us "Because it was just Sony they only kept it Spider-Man, but it's really exciting when certain characters pop-up. You're like, 'Oh!' It's that comic book, nerd feeling that you get and I don't know about you but when I'm reading I'm like, 'Just tell me what's gonna happen already! I'm done with suspense!' I think it's awesome when it happens in a movie like it does in this one."

A fan of Wolverine, Peña also admitted he would like to see (as most of us) Wolverine join the Avengers on-screen. "That would be awesome!"

Ant-Man is now playing in theaters.
