Marvel Entertainment has released a new featurette revealing the makeup process Paul Bettany went through in order to play The Vision in the spring blockbuster Avengers: Age of Ultron.

When director Joss Whedon approached Bettany with concept art of The Vision, the actor "flipped out." While he was very enthused to play The Vision, Bettany says he didn't even consider what the daily process would be like to transform him into the red-skinned android.

"The makeup is actually amazingly quick I think for what is accomplished. It's about an hour-and-a-half," Bettany explains in the featurette. "And then there is a robot-muscle suit that goes on. I wear a cooling-suit, that has piping that goes all around me and they plug it and ice water runs through it. It keeps me cool."

One issue Bettany encountered with his costume was that there was prosthetics covering his head, making it difficult to hear. They remedied this by puncturing a few holes in it. Problem solved!

Check it out in the video below.
