Chris Hemsworth may get a short commute for Thor: Ragnarok's production.

New reports are claiming that Disney is interested in filming both Thor: Ragnarok and in Australia, where Thor actor Hemsworth currently resides. They are also interested in filming Captain Marvel there as well. And while it would be convenient for the Aussie actor, Disney's reasons are a little bit bigger than that. As Yahoo Movies reported, Disney had a "great experience" filming Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales in the land Down Under earlier this year, and would like to produce more movies there.

"The big bosses were very pleased throughout the year it took to shoot out here and now they're looking at bringing out one of the Marvel films," said one of Pirates' technical specialists, who remained anonymous.

The location could also be a cost-cutting measure, according to sources, as Pirates familiarized Disney with Australia's ideal shooting locations. Since they already know where to shoot, they would save money on location scouting.

"They were also able to work across a lot of different locations which has saved them scouting for the Marvel movie."

If Disney and Marvel do indeed decide on Australia for Ragnarok, production could begin there as early as March 2016. Captain Marvel, which doesn't hit theaters until full year later, would likely begin in 2017.
