Giant Praying Mantis Attacks In First Goosebumps Clip

Entertainment Tonight has released the first clip from Sony Pictures' horror-comedy Goosebumps movie, starring Jack Black (School of Rock) as R.L. Stine.

In this clip, Stine and his group are attacked by a giant praying mantis. At first, Stine is caught off guard by the attack because he simply doesn't remember writing about a giant praying mantis, but it all quickly comes back to him when it spits sticky tar on his car's windshield. The creature appeared in Stine's thirty-fifth Goosebumps books, "A Shocker on Shock Street."

Check out the clip in the video below.

Upset about moving from a big city to a small town, teenager Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets the beautiful girl, Hannah (Odeya Rush), living right next door. But every silver lining has a cloud, and Zach’s comes when he learns that Hannah has a mysterious dad who is revealed to be R. L. Stine (Jack Black), the author of the bestselling Goosebumps series. It turns out that there is a reason why Stine is so strange… he is a prisoner of his own imagination – the monsters that his books made famous are real, and Stine protects his readers by keeping them locked up in their books. When Zach unintentionally unleashes the monsters from their manuscripts and they begin to terrorize the town, it’s suddenly up to Stine, Zach, and Hannah to get all of them back in the books where they belong.

The cast includes Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, Amy Ryan, Ryan Lee and Jillian Bell. The film is being directed by Rob Letterman based on a story by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski and a screenplay by Darren Lemke.

Goosebumps movie coming to theaters October 16, 2015.
