Now, bear in mind that the PTC is not the same group — One Million Moms — that is objecting to Muppets. We’re simply drawing a corollary between two groups with similar mission statements. The PTC is similar to One Million Moms, but it’s larger and generally considered not quite as conservative.

“For far too long the entertainment industry has — openly or covertly — objectified women, telling young girls that all that matters is ‘sexiness’ and appearance,” the PTC said in a blog post. “Now at last, there is a terrific role model for young girls.”

They also praised the series’ “fantasy violence,” which is less likely to scare children than, say, Arrow, and its upbeat tone.

Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist in the newest DC Comics adaptation, as Kara Danvers breaks out from under her famous cousin’s shadow and shows how she can be super herself. Executive produced by Greg Berlanti, Ali Adler, Andrew Kreisberg, and Sarah Schechter, the series follows WBTV and DC Entertainment’s recent spate of hits like Arrow, The Flash, and Gotham to the air.Calista Flockhart (Cat Grant), Chyler Leigh(Alex Danvers), Mehcad Brooks (James Olsen), David Harewood (Hank Henshaw), and Jeremy Jordan (Winslow “Winn” Schott) also star.

The Supergirl series premiere airs Monday, October 26 at 8:30 PM. The series will then move to its regular Monday 8 PM slot the following week, November 2.
