During a chat with fans on Twitter, Star Wars franchise star Harrison Ford seems to have revealed a surprising detail about the forthcoming The Force Awakens that wasn't already widely known.

Of course, pretty quickly fans started to wonder whether the star was joking, or whether he had actually revealed a potentially-major spoiler from the film.

Here's the tweet (with some thoughts on why it would matter below):

Obviously one of the recurring images from recent TV spots is the one above, of Ren holding Rey at lightsaber-point. Earlier images of Rey seemingly about to square off in a duel with Finn have often been thought to be a part of the same segment of the movie.

But Rey herself hasn't been seen using a lightsaber on any of the official imagery for the film yet -- so if her next move after that surprised/scared look is to turn around and start trying to disarm the villain, that would be a pretty cool surprise...which Ford may have just revealed on Twitter with two weeks to go.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. They will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18, 2015, kicking off a new trilogy of Saga films as Episodes VIII and IX are already scheduled with directors Rian Johnson and Colin Trevorrow, respectively.
