Tonight's episode of Supergirl, titled "Hostile Takeover," will ratchet up the stakes in an epic battle between Kara and her aunt Astra, while leaving not one but two major plot points dangling until the series resumes in 2016, according to showrunner Andrew Kreisberg.
The episode, which will introduce a potential new love interest for Kara in the form of Adam Foster, threatens the city with physical destruction while Cat Grant's legacy is under siege when a hacker reveals a number of her personal secrets to the world, and her grip on the company she built is threatened by some of the revelations.
“This becomes a very emotional episode,” Kreisberg told Entertainment Weekly, “because it’s been very easy for Kara to be angry with Astra, and think that Astra is the villain, but Astra comes with some surprising news about Kara’s mother that begins to make Kara question the unwavering faith that she’s always put in her mother.”
He added, “We have two pretty big cliff-hangers — one emotional and one literal. Just like any of our other shows, it’s really an epic two-parter and part two kicks off when we get back in January.”
Will somebody be dangling off a cliff at the end of tonight's Supergirl, or is this another instance of people not understanding how to use "literally?" We'll find out tonight at 8 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
