DC Comics has announced Adventures of Supergirl, a 13-chapter, bi-weekly, digital first comic series set in the same universe as the CBS Supergirl TV show.

According to IGN, the series will be written by veteran Supergirl comics writer Sterling Gates, and will have a rotating roster of artists, including Bengal, Jonboy Meyers, Emanuela Lupacchino, and Emma Vieceli. Bengal will pencil, color, and ink the first three chapters of the series.

New chapters of Adventures of Supergirl will be released on Mondays, the same day that the TV series airs. Adventures of Supergirl will not tie directly into Supergirl, but will tell additional stories of Kara Danvers trying to balance her job at CatCo with teaming with the DEO to protect National City from threats like supervillains Rampage, Vril Dox, and Psi.

Adventures of Supergirl is just the latest TV tie-in comic from DC Digital, joining the ongoing Arrow and The Flash digital series. Past series have continued the story of the WB's Smallville, and featured new adventures of the classic TV Batman in Batman '66.

There are no plans to serialize Adventures of Supergirl as a monthly print comic, but all 13 chapters will be collected as a graphic novel when the series is complete.

The first chapter of Adventures of Supergirl will be released on Jan. 25, 2016.
