Star Wars: The Force Awakens is on pace to set a new opening record at the North American box office.

The new Star Wars film is now projected to gross $220M in its debut weekend. That would beat Jurassic World's record, which it set earlier this year with $208.8M.

The film debuted with $120M on Friday (including Thursday previews) -- a new opening day record -- and on Saturday is grossed $60M. That 50% dip from Friday's total is 8% more than analysts had expected. If that figure holds up, that $60M Saturday would rank fourth best for the day, behind Iron Man 3 ($62.3M), Avengers ($69.55M) and Jurassic World ($69.6M).

Audiences are giving The Force Awakens an 'A' CinemaScore.

In this continuation of the Star Wars saga, balance returns to the Force as the First Order, emerging from the ashes of the Empire, clashes with the Resistance, which includes scrappy newcomers as well as heroes from the former Rebel Alliance.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is now playing at your local theater.
