Star Wars Actor Mark Hamilll Visits Children In Hospital

Star Wars actor Mark Hamill took a break from his publicity duties this week to visit with children at Great Ormond Street Hospital.

"Star Wars movies are meant to be a couple of hours of diversion from reality, and we need that," Hamill told The Independent. "They are optimistic and hopeful stories. But in comparison to what we can do with this [the hospital], last night [the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens] is very trivial."

Hamill, who also plays The Trickster on The CW's The Flash, tweeted about the event, thanking the hospital's charity for inviting him to participate.

Hamill is currently appearing in a little independent film you've never heard of, titled Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens, directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan & Abrams, features a cast including actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Andersen, Domhnall Gleeson, and Max von Sydow. They will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit theaters December 18, 2015, kicking off a new trilogy of Saga films as Episodes VIII and IX are already scheduled. The film garnered a record $247 million at the domestic box office and $529 million globally in its opening weekend.
