CBS is one step closer to bringing Nancy Drew to television. The network has ordered a pilot episode for Drew, a proposed new series featuring the teen detective grown up and working for the NYPD. According to EW.com, Drew is described as "A contemporary take on the character from the iconic Nancy Drew book series. Now in her 30s, Nancy is a detective for the NYPD where she investigates and solves crimes using her uncanny observational skills, all while navigating the complexities of life in a modern world."

Nancy Drew first appeared in the 1930 novel "The Secret of the Old Clock", which was the first in a long running series of mystery novels written primarily for young women. While several different authors have written Nancy Drew over the years, every Nancy Drew book has been published as written by the fictional writer Carolyn Keene.

The proposed series previously made headlines last month when CBS revealed they were seeking a non-Caucasian actress to play Nancy Drew.

If Drew does get a pickup order, it won't be the first time Nancy Drew has appeared on television. The detective previously appeared in The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries, a 1977 ABC show featuring Drew and her male detective contemporaries. Nancy Drew also appeared in a 2007 movie, where she was played by Emma Roberts.
