Happy birthday, Benicio del Toro! The actor is celebrating his 49th birthday.
A respected actor amongst many circles, Del Toro is best known to comic fans as The Collector in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He first appeared in the post-credits scene of Thor: The Dark World before making his official debut in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. And with a multi-picture contract at Marvel Studios, Del Toro will likely have at least one more turn as the character.
For now, we're looking forward to what his role will be when he appears in Star Wars: Episode VIII. We know he'll be there but that's the only bit to slip through the cracks, so far, though rumors have been swirling which claim he'll be taking on a villainous role.
Del Toro’s other genre credits include Jackie Boy from Sin City and the Wolfman from The Wolfman reboot. Other notable performances in his career include Pablo Escobar in Escobar: Paradise Lost, Lado from Savages, Dr. Gonzo from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, and Fenster from The Usual Suspects—a film directed by X-Men franchise helmer Bryan Singer.
Del Toro was born on February 19, 1967 in San German, Puerto Rico, and he turns 49 years old today.
