Jon Bernthal makes his debut as Punisher in Daredevil season 2 on March 18 on Netflix, but the actor tells Empire he's already ready for his own series, too.

"This guy is very much burned into my heart and soul," he told the magazine. "I think about him all the time. And I look at it the same way Frank would look at it. I'm a soldier, man. If they call on me, I'll stand to attention and I'll be ready."

Bernthal loves the contrast between the relatively no-nonsense Punisher and the flashy Daredevil in this season of TV, though.

"Frank is so filled with rage and despair that this idea of a guy prancing around in a costume with little horns beating up bad guys is absurd to him. It's ripe for a character like Frank to come in and shit on that," he said.

He also clarifies that this isn't a team-up: Daredevil and Punisher are definitely against each other in this season, though they'll be able to see each others' sides.

"What's really interesting is that these guys are absolute enemies, but they start to understand each other."

Jon Bernthal joins Charlie Cox, Elodie Yung, and more in Daredevil season 2 on March 18, 2016, only on Netflix.
