Zootopia To Knock Deadpool Out Of The Top Spot

Well, it finally happened. Deadpool will most likely lose the top spot this weekend after Disney's Zootopia debuts to at least $60 million.

Positive word of mouth has helped Zootopia fill theatres, and without many other family friendly films in theatres right now, it pretty much has the genre space all to itself. It currently sits at a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes as well, so people who are going are liking what they see.

While there isn't a budget to compare at the moment, Disney has spent a great deal on marketing, and using Big Hero 6 and Minions as a guide, it will probably be around the $80 to $150 million mark. The good news is that it has already made $90 million overseas, and things are looking good domestically as well.

Looks like Zootopia is going to be around for a while.
