On Thursday, Sony Pictures Entertainment finally released the first trailer for Paul Feig's Ghostbusters reboot. The reactions so far have been mixed, but leaning toward the negative. On the studio's official Youtube channel, the trailer has received 123,172 upvotes and 226,967 downvotes.

One of the reasons the trailer isn't getting more favorable reactions is that many of its jokes didn't land—aside from Leslie Jones's "Power of pain compels you" line and Kate McKinnon's wig/hat gag. Funny, but not sidesplitting.

I bet the trailer would be much better if the humor was exorcised from it. If only someone(s) could use their editing skills to make that a reality. Oh look, someone(s) did! Mike Colver and Wes Adams of the Circle City Ghostbusters have re-cut a humorless Ghostbusters trailer, and it is dramatically better.

Check out their "Extreme Re-Edit" in the video below.

Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today – Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they're here to save the world!

Ghostbusters is due in theaters July 15, 2016.
