Five Shocking Moments from Supergirl - Falling
Tonight's episode of Supergirl unleashed a very dangerous version of the superheroine on an [...]
Kara Gets Siobhan Fired
To be fair, she kind of had it coming. After Cat refused to run a story about Supergirl letting an alien criminal get away, Siobhan decided to go behind her back and send the story to Perry White at the Daily Planet. Unfortunately for Winn's makeout buddy, Kara overheard Siobhan talking to Perry over the phone and intercepted the email before Siobhan could send it to the Daily Planet. When Cat found out about Siobhan's attempted betrayal, she quickly told "Assistant #1" to clean out her desk as Kara smirked in satisfaction outside.
Supergirl Tosses Cat Off of a Building
Although Cat Grant was more than happy to squash a negative story about Supergirl, she was too good of a journalist to just let a mystery sit unsolved. Summoning the superhero to her office, Cat confronted Supergirl about her recent attitude change. Surmising that Supergirl had some sort of mental breakdown, Cat offered to help, but Supergirl instead tossed Cat off the top of the CatCo building. While she caught Cat before she went "splat", Supergirl warned her never to summon her again. Seeing how dangerous Supergirl had become, Cat reluctantly released a statement denouncing Supergirl, which effectively turned the city against the erratic superhero.
Of Course It Was Max Lord's Fault
Just as the DEO discovered that red kryptonite had somehow turned Supergirl evil, Max Lord suddenly turned up to claim responsibility for the artificial kryptonite. It turns out that Lord had discovered Kryptonian's natural weakness to kryptonite and had attempted to recreate the mineral to assassinate Non. Of course, Lord's plan backfired and turned Supergirl into the monster he was always afraid of. While Alex was (understandably) furious with Lord, he offered to create a weapon that could reverse the effects of red kryptonite. It looks like Lord might not be so evil after all.
Martian Manhunter Goes Public
After wiping out most of the DEO's forces, Supergirl turned on her adopted sister, breaking her arm and threatening to kill her. With no other option available, Hank transformed into his true form to fight Supergirl head on. While Supergirl still had the strength advantage, she couldn't keep up with Martian Manhunter's phasing abilities, which gave him the opening to stun her long enough for Alex to fire her anti-red kryptonite gun and turn Kara back to normal.
However, Martian Manhunter's revelation wasn't without consequence. Hank turned himself into the DEO's custody rather than escape, knowing that it was the best way to protect Alex and Kara.
Cat Stands By Supergirl
While Kara tried to apologize to her friends and family for her red kryptonite-influenced actions, neither Alex nor Jimmy seemed ready to fully accept her apology. However, Cat provided Supergirl with some much needed support when the heroine turned up on Cat's balcony. Although she admitted that it wouldn't be easy, Cat told Supergirl that she could win National City's trust simply by continuing to be the best hero she could be. Cat might have denounced Supergirl in public, but it's clear that her trust in the superheroine hasn't wavered.
