The good folks at Bioware have given fans an update on when their next step in the Mass Effect franchise, Andromeda, is coming to consoles.

General Manager of Bioware Aaryn Flynn posted the update on Masseffect.com, where he also spoke about the development team's goals for the new entry. Those include giving the player more freedom in how they get from place to place and in what order they chose to move around the universe. He also mentioned how the game is "leaving the Milky Way behind and headed to Andromeda", promising new allies, enemies, and new worlds.

The biggest news, however, is the time frame for release. Flynn spoke about how the game plays in its current state, saying: "As we've been playing the game at the studio recently, it's showing us that we're taking the game in the right direction. But we also know we need the right amount of time to make sure we deliver everything the game can be and should be – that's our commitment from all of us to all of you. Because of that, Mass Effect: Andromeda will now ship in early 2017. We can't wait to show you how far we're all going to go."

The game will be shown at the EA PLAY press conference on June 12th, and here is hoping for some actual gameplay this time around.
