It's true: Bryan Cranston is actually playing Zordon in Power Rangers. The reboot, coming as a 2017 film, has seen a mixture of relative newcomers (for most of the Rangers themselves) and big-name actors like Cranston as Zordon and Elizabeth Banks as the villain Rita Repulsa. While talking to ET about his current film The Infiltrator, he also talked briefly about Power Rangers and a role he's very excited for.

"Let's get ready to Ranger!" he said in a booming announcer voice with a smile. Whether that's his Zordon voice or not, we'll have to wait and see. The actor said he's doing "Motion capture, a lot of CGI work," and gave some fresh details about Zordon, who is depicted as a large floating head of energy in a pipe, and his backstory.

"The tenant of that storyline is that this is a real person who is trapped in this ether-world," Cranston said, "and it becomes this in-the-wall so to speak of this lair, this command center. He still has a heart and mind, but an agenda that he's gotta get these five Power Rangers to defend the Earth, or else everyone they know will be killed."

As for his voice, he said he doesn't want it to be "too corny," and wouldn't reveal exactly how he'll be portraying it just yet. You can check out that not-quite-realistic version of his voice in the video above.

Cranston (and interviewer Ashley Crossan) also noted that some of his very early work was voice-acting for villains on the original Mighty Morphin Power Rangers series.
