Watch: New 'American Horror Story' Promo Looks A Lot Like 'Stranger Things'

A new promo for American Horror Story season 6 landed online today, and the show just seems to keep getting stranger and stranger. The latest teaser looks more like some out of Netflix series Stranger Things when a terrifying monster comes charging towards the camera.

This creature in the promo has very little facial features, much like that of the Demogorgon from the popular Netflix series. It also has a comparable humanoid shape and dwells in a dark, mysterious setting. The logline for the promo reads, "Run," which was what Winona Ryder's character Joyce spelled out in Christmas lights in an attempt to contact her son.

During the Television Critic's Association press tour, FX CEO John Landgraf revealed that many of the teasers are in fact "misdirects" in order to keep the overarching theme of the upcoming sixth season shrouded in mystery. Other promos have featured a demon baby, the lady with spider eyes, and the Texas Chainsaw Massacre-esque house.

"We just thought it would really be fun to keep it a mystery, so we are," Landgraf stated. "[Ryan Murphy and Stephanie Gibbons, FX head of marketing and on-ar promotions] went out and made many more trailers than you've actually seen for hypothetical seasons of 'American Horror Story,' meaning different genres and different places. And one of them is accurate, and the others are just misdirects."

Landgraf also confirmed that the upcoming season, like previous seasons, will have a unique setting and theme. However, the theme will remain a secret until the show's season 6 premiere.
