It's been over a decade since the manga for Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time was released, and fans still look back on it fondly. The manga acted as graphic novelization for its eponymous video game counterpart. The N64 game continues to be one of the most beloved games in the history of Legend of Zelda, so it's fitting that its manga is about to get one legendary update. Viz Media recently announced they'll be collecting the Ocarina of Time manga into a complete Legendary Edition later this November.

Published in 1999, the Ocarina of Time manga was translated for English-speaking audiences back in 2008. The adaptation was written by Akira Himekawa, a name which should be familiar to manga readers. The name is actually pseudonym for a pair of female artists who've worked on many recent Legend of Zelda manga collections. Even Hyrule Historia featured artwork by Himekawa as both Nintendo and Dark Horse Books included a short manga in the jointly published venture.

Viz Media has released the cover art for the manga's Legendary Edition as well. Fans can see that Link sits at the cover's center, and the franchise's iconic green-and-gold coloring adorns the minimalistic cover. The Legendary Edition will be comprehensive, collecting both of the series' volumes: Child Arc & Adult Arc. While the Ocarina of Time manga does closely follow the game, there are several side-stories and references within its pages which only readers would know. For example, the manga explains pierced ears in Legend of Zelda signal a character has completed a rite of passage for Shelkahs who protect Princess Zelda.

Housed in the manga, there are over 10 chapters which retell one of Link's most iconic adventures. Really, it's no surprise Viz Media is wanting to celebrate the hero's story once more as this month marks their 30th anniversary. If you're interested in getting the collection, then fans can pre-order Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Legendary Edition for $18 through Viz Media or Amazon.

Of course, Ocarina of Time isn't the only manga associated with Legend of Zelda. Valiant Comics has famously published comics about Hyrule's greatest hero since the 1990s, and other manga artists such as Shotaro Ishinomori (A Link to the Past) and Ataru Cagiva (Dreaming Island) have also published works. However, Himekawa is by far the most prolific artist since they've produced over seven collections.

And, with Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild slated to release next year, Viz Media's upcoming release will get long-time fans excited for the stunning game. Already, gamers are clamoring over Nintendo's open-world title, so manga readers can start crossing their fingers ] that a novelization for Breath of the Wild is in the works.
