A new trailer for the Russian superhero movie Guardians has been released online.

(So, no, for those of you reading, it's not a trailer for DC's New Guardians, but rather a new trailer for a Russian film called Guardians -- one which has nothing to do with Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy.

Glad we cleared that up.

The film was originally translated as Defenders. It's not clear whether that name was changed because it would have created confusion with Marvel and Netflix's superhero team-up series by the same name. That might seem likely at first glance, but since Defenders and Guardians are such close concepts, it's possible that the title change was as much a translation choice as anything else.

Set during the Cold War, a secret organization named "Patriot" gathered a group of Soviet superheroes, altering and augmenting the DNA of four individuals, in order to defend the homeland from supernatural threats.

The group includes representatives of the different nationalities of the Soviet Union, each one of them having long been hiding their true identity. In hard times, they got down to business and gathered to defend their homeland.

There are four main characters, identified below, and of course, as you'd expect from any good Russian superhero movie, it features a bear with a machine gun.

The film's characters include Argus, a man with shapeshifting abilities; Han, a martial artist with the ability to control wind; Ksenia, a woman who can transform her body into water; and Ler, a man who can control earth.

We have to assume that the gun-toting bear controls "Heart."

Guardians is directed by Sarik Andreasyan and stars Anton Pampushniy, Sanzhar Madiev, Sebastien Sisak, Alina Lanina, Valeria Shkirando, Vyacheslav Razbegaev, and Stanislav Shirin.

Guardians opens in Russia on February 23, 2017.
