Following a frightening robbery in Paris on Monday, Kim Kardashian has left her apartment in New York City for the first time since arriving back in the United States.

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star left through the backdoor of the apartment along with her rapper husband Kanye West and their two children, North and Saint West, according to E! News.

It appears as if the family has plans on getting out of town for a while. Early on Thursday morning, onlookers at the apartment noticed bodyguards for the famous couple packing up a black Escalade full of luggage.

No official word yet from Kim on exactly how long she will be staying out of the spotlight, but some sources have indicated that she will likely take off "about a month" before stepping back into the public eye. While Kim has still been silent on social media, the rest of her extended family has slowly been easing back into it.

Around 2:30 a.m. on Monday morning, the 35-year-old reality star was held up at gunpoint when two men dressed as police officers forced their way into her room. Kim was gagged and her hands were bound by zipties before she was placed in the bathtub with tape over her mouth. The armed robbers proceeded to steal over $10 million worth of jewelry as well as a cell phone and credit cards.

The robbers have not been apprehended yet, but the French police believe that they possibly caught the culprits on surveillance video.

Not only has Kim had to deal with this terrifying moment where she thought may be raped or killed, but also she has faced heavy criticism from the public from people who are under the impression that the entire ordeal was simply a publicity stunt.

A source close to the reality star said, "It's crazy to her that people, even for a second, think she is fabricating this story." The source continued, "She feels like no one understands her and what she's been through."

How long do you think Kim Kardashian will try to avoid being seen in the public eye?
