Y:The Last Man Comic TV Adaptation Finds Its Showrunner

FX has officially found it's showrunner for their new television adaptation of the wildly popular comic book series Y: The Last Man.

According to THR, Michael Green, who is currently running American Gods along side of Neil Gaimen, has been tapped to run the new FX series alongside pf prolific comic book creator Brian K. Vaughan.

Both Vaughn and Green will co-write the script for Y: The Last Man which is currently still in development at FX.

Y: The Last Man, created by Vaughan and artist Pia Guerra, follows the adventures of the last two male mammals on Earth -- a man named Yorick and his helper monkey ampersand after a catastrophic and unexplained event wipes all of the other males out simultaneously.

The ground-breaking comic book series dropped in 2002, ran for 60 issues and has been collected in multiple graphic novels.

Before the series landed at FX, it was stuck in production hell for quite a few years as it was meant to be a movie first.

However, when Vaughn reacquired the rights to his creation he took it to FX as an hour long drama series instead.

Vaughn, who has previously worked in television on shows such as Lost and Under the Dome, took his good old time finding a showrunner.

"There's a kind of a scrum of interest in that," FX CEO John Landgraf told IGN. "We've had a number of producers and writers who really want to participate in that."

"Ultimately, it's Brian's call who he wants to work with and I think that'll come out soon," Landgraf added.

The talented Michael Green's resume includes working on the upcoming remake of Murder On the Orient Express, the sequel to Bladerunner, Hugh Jackman's last film as Wolverine - Logan, and Green Latern.

As far as televsion, Green has had a hand in The River, Heroes, Everwood, Smallville, and Kings.

Now that the series has found it's showrunner, we expect to hear more details in the near future!
