After years of starring in a multittude of 80s films, Robert Downey Jr made one of the industries biggest comebacks with his take on Marvel's Iron Man.

Since Iron Man debuted in 2008, Downey has starred in six of Marvel's Cinematic Universe films, and appeared in one more. His take on Tony Stark has brought massive critical acclaim, and the films have destroyed box office records.

Stan Lee, creator of Marvel comics, has recently gone on record stating RDJ was born to play Tony Stark.

Downey recently starred opposite Chris Evans in the smash hit film, Captain America: Civil War. Tony Stark will appear next in the 2017 blockbuster, Spider-Man: Homecoming.

In the midst of all this superhero craze, it looks like Downey is starting to shift his attention elsewhere. He's always been featured in front of the camera, but he's now aiming to be equally as successful behind it.

The Wrap has learned that Robert Downy Jr has signed on to direct episodes of the Anthony Michael Hall series, Singularity.

Plot details are unknown at this point, but Downey will produce the series as well as direct. His wife, Sharon Downey, has also signed on as a producer. Their production company, Team Downey Productions, will be handling the show.

It's hard to tell if this shift in focus for Downey will lead to a drop-off in his involvement with Marvel. While Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to wrap up in 2019, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has assured fans he has more in store for Tony Stark.
