If you are a fan of Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time, then you know the beloved series has a particular focus on food. Finn and Jake journey about the post-apocalyptic Lane of Ooo, make some colorful friends, and dine on very excellent meals. The show has been known to make lesser mouths water, but they need not suffer from temptation any longer.
After all, there’s a pretty sweet Adventure Time cookbook out now that can teach you how to make Jack’s most audacious recipes. So, arm your skillets and tastebuds because the authentic flavor of Ooo is coming for you.
Adventure Time: The Official Cookbook houses more than 50 recipes inspired by the fan-favorite show. Chef Jordan Grosser provided dozens of deliciously wacky recipes for fans to try out, and Christopher Hastings compliments the lists with hilarious commentary. The writer adds in tips, tricks, and quirky quips on behalf of characters like Jake, Finn, Prince Gumball, Party Pat, and more.
The cookbook is not what many would call traditional, but it does adhere to a fairly routine structure. Adventure Time’s cookbook begins with breakfast options before moving onto appetizers, main dishes, side dishes, beverages, and desserts. However, it’s the final section that fans will balk out.
The final recipe in Adventure Time: The Official Cookbook is a sure-hit favorite, and it goes by the name of Minerva Feast. The recipe isn’t so much for a dish as it is for a three-course meal, but Finn’s commentary about the event is enough to make you set the table. “You can make every recipe in the book for the ultimate feast!” Finn writes in all caps, of course. “Get a little teary on the mom thing and then freak out because cooking all this food will be so much work.”
If you’ve ever wanted a cookbook to make you laugh, then you will have found it with this gem. Hastings drops bombastic, in-your-face quips about self-deprecating anecdotes and more throughout this cookbook.
Fans of the show will also appreciate how flavorful and canon-compliant the dishes are. Grosser went to great pains to recreate tasty versions of Jake’s delicious Time Sandwich and Everything burrito. There are also sweet nostalgic nods to characters like Ice King via the Ice King Sundae or Jermaine a la Anti-Demon Fried Rice.
Adventure Time: The Official Cookbook is the perfect recipe collection for fans of the series who’ve always wanted to taste Ooo cuisine but didn’t know how. The book does the hard work for fans and compiles plenty of bacon-rich, sugar-sweet concoction that cooks of any caliber can try. And, with Finn and Jake acting as your sous chefs, it is truly impossible not to have fun.
