Fans of The Walking Dead comics are always anxiously anticipating various characters and events on the show, partly because they want to know if the series will handle their favorite stories properly.

On of these scenarios revolves around the character Jesus, who is taking a much bigger role in the show's seventh season.

See, in the comics, Jesus was gay. Although it wasn't revealed for a number of issues after the character's debut, Jesus was in a relationship with the doctor of Hilltop, Harlan Carson. Later on in the series, Jesus and Aaron start to develop a relationship.

The show's audience has been wondering if this part of Jesus would reveal itself on the television version, since some other character changes had already been made. Many fans were also hoping to see Sasha and Jesus connect a little deeper after an earlier episode this season.

According to Tom Payne, who portrays Jesus, it looks like the character will stay true to the source.

In an interview with Huffington Post, Payne was asked about the possibility of Jesus being gay on the show, and he didn't hold back his opinions.

"I think that would be amazing."

The actor went on to site sexuality as a key piece of the character, and that there has been no reason for the show to change that.

"Yeah, who cares? He's a badass and he happens to be gay," Payne said. He later continued by saying, "Why wouldn't he be? And I see no reason why that would be different in the show."

Is a relationship with Aaron in the cards for Jesus down the road? Or will Doctor Carson be the only love interest for the character?
