The Twilight Zone is one of the first and the best sci-fi (and sometimes horror) anthology series of all time.

Many of us remember looking out of airplane windows in fear after watching The Twilight Zone.

Ring in the New Year with Syfy's 22nd annual The Twilight Zone marathon. It will start bright and early on Saturday, December 31 at 6am through Monday, January 2 at 4am and feature 128 classic episodes, including "Twenty-Two" and "Nightmare At 20,000 Feet."

In addition, for the first time in its history of The Twilight Zone marathons, Syfy will let fans choose which episodes will air during primetime on Sunday, January 1 from 8/7c to 11/10c. Starting at 7:30/6:30c, viewers can cast their votes for one of two competing episodes by tweeting the specific hashtags to the official Syfy handle - @Syfy.

In all, 12 episodes will be in competition for 6 slots, with the winning episodes airing immediately following a 15-minute voting window.

You get to chose which episode you want to watch!.

Mostly written and hosted by Rod Serling, The Twilight Zone is a strange mix of horror, science-fiction, drama, comedy and paranormal short stories, much like radio shows at the time.

Frequent themes on the series included nuclear war, McCarthyism, and mass hysteria, subjects that were avoided on more serious primetime television. Episodes such as "He's Alive" or "The Monsters Are Due on Maple Street" offered specific commentary on current events and social issues.

The characters (ususally played by famous and up and coming actors) of each half-hour episode were said to have crossed over into The Twilight Zone but every story always ended with a surprise twist or a moral.

Who can forget William Shatner on hallucinating on the plane? That creature or whatever it was, is engrained in our brains forever.
